Ingredients
  

Filling
  • 4 cups fresh blackberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch for thickening
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine blackberries, sugar, cornstarch, and lemon juice. Stir gently to combine.
  3. Pour the blackberry mixture into a greased baking dish.
Make the Topping
  1. In another bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Add milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  3. Pour the batter over the blackberry mixture in the baking dish. Do not stir.
Bake
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown.
  2. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
