Ingredients

Blueberry Jam Ingredients
  • 4 cups fresh blueberries washed and stems removed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar adjust to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon pectin optional, for thicker jam

Method

Prepare the Blueberries
  1. In a large saucepan, combine the blueberries and lemon juice. Mash the blueberries slightly with a wooden spoon to release their juices.
Cook the Jam
  1. Add the sugar to the saucepan and stir well. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until the mixture comes to a boil.
  2. Once boiling, continue to cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the mixture thickens. If using pectin, add it according to the package instructions.
Jar the Jam
  1. Remove the saucepan from heat and let the jam cool for a few minutes. Pour the jam into sterilized jars using a canning funnel, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace.
  2. Seal the jars with lids and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes if you plan to store them long-term.
