Prepare the Blueberries
- In a large saucepan, combine the blueberries and lemon juice. Mash the blueberries slightly with a wooden spoon to release their juices.
Cook the Jam
- Add the sugar to the saucepan and stir well. Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently until the mixture comes to a boil.
- Once boiling, continue to cook for about 10-15 minutes, or until the mixture thickens. If using pectin, add it according to the package instructions.
Jar the Jam
- Remove the saucepan from heat and let the jam cool for a few minutes. Pour the jam into sterilized jars using a canning funnel, leaving about 1/4 inch of headspace.
- Seal the jars with lids and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes if you plan to store them long-term.
