Brown Sugar Boba Tea

Ingredients
  

Boba Pearls
  • 1 cup tapioca pearls black or brown sugar flavored
  • 4 cups water for boiling
Brown Sugar Syrup
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup water for syrup
Milk Mixture
  • 2 cups milk or non-dairy alternative
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Method
 

Prepare Boba Pearls
  1. Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Add the tapioca pearls and cook according to package instructions, usually about 25 minutes.
  3. Once cooked, remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes.
  4. Strain the pearls and rinse under cold water.
Make Brown Sugar Syrup
  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of water.
  2. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved.
  3. Bring to a simmer and let it thicken for about 5 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool.
Combine Ingredients
  1. In a glass, add a few tablespoons of brown sugar syrup at the bottom.
  2. Add the cooked boba pearls on top of the syrup.
  3. Pour in the milk mixture and stir gently to combine.
  4. Add ice if desired and serve with a wide straw.

Notes
