Chopped Italian Sandwich

Ingredients
  

Sandwich Base
  • 4 slices Ciabatta bread or any crusty Italian bread
Filling
  • 4 oz Salami sliced
  • 4 oz Capicola sliced
  • 4 oz Provolone cheese sliced
  • 1 cup Romaine lettuce chopped
  • 1 medium Tomato diced
  • 1/4 cup Red onion finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup Pepperoncini sliced
Dressing
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 tbsp Red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp Dried oregano
  • 1 tsp Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper to taste

Method
 

Prepare the Filling
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the salami, capicola, provolone cheese, romaine lettuce, tomato, red onion, and pepperoncini.
  2. In a separate small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, red wine vinegar, oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Pour the dressing over the meat and vegetable mixture and toss to combine.
Assemble the Sandwich
  1. Slice the ciabatta bread in half and layer the filling generously on the bottom half.
  2. Top with the other half of the bread and press down gently.
  3. If desired, grill the sandwich on a sandwich press or grill until golden brown and crispy.
  4. Cut the sandwich into halves or quarters and serve immediately.

Notes
