- Chop the broccoli into bite-sized pieces and dice the onion finely. Rinse the wild rice under cold water until clear.
- In a large pot over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp of butter. Add the diced onion and minced garlic; sauté until translucent.
- Pour in the broth and stir in the wild rice. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes.
- Once the rice is tender, add chunks of cream cheese and stir until melted.
- Add the broccoli florets along with thyme, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until tender.
- Ladle into bowls and garnish with fresh thyme if desired.
