Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups all purpose flour
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup strawberry jam
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter melted
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2-4 tablespoons milk for glaze
  • 1-2 drops pink gel food coloring optional
  • Valentine's sprinkles

Method
 

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, milk, melted butter, egg, vanilla extract, yeast, and salt.
  2. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface until smooth, about 5 minutes.
  4. Let the dough rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough to about ½ inch thick. Use a heart-shaped cutter to cut out donuts.
  6. Allow the cut donuts to rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  7. Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Fry the donuts until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  9. Remove donuts and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  10. Once cool, fill a donut with strawberry jam.
  11. In a bowl, mix powdered sugar, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Add milk until desired consistency is reached.
  12. Dip the tops of the donuts in the glaze and top with sprinkles.
