Dip Base
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 medium yellow onions thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh chives chopped, for garnish

Method
 

Prepare the Onions
  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until they are caramelized and golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
Mix the Dip
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the caramelized onions, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until smooth and creamy.
Chill and Serve
  1. Cover the dip and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled, garnished with chopped chives.
